rank used to be a great way of showing: hey i've been here playing this type of pvp for this long. And i've been at least marginally successful.

That concept died fairly quickly though because people quickly became elitist.

Rank showing that you've been there is great, ti shows a little bit of experience, but it doesn't show you as good automatically.
And on the other side of the coin, a lack of rank doesn't show that you suck either. In some cases I'd prefer a lower rank than a higher rank on my team for SPECIFIC roles, simply because the longer a person has been playing the more likely they are to have learned bad habits in HA, whereas a new person that understands the mechanics and how the build works but just hasn't been that heavy into ha, you can mold them, their minds, into exactly what it is you seek out of them.

Hell yeah, rank means something. Better Pain Inverter, sturdier summons, longer shouts and buffs, all with no attribute point investment! What I wouldn't give for another second of "Save Yourselves!", man . . .

True that. Its really more of a curve (altough, not a bell curve, since there is obviously WAY more rank 0 players then rank 11). People with no rank think rank is meaningless, partly because they are jealous. People with rank 4-9 think they are leet and talk down to everybody (GENERALLY).
People with r10+ by then have played enough to know better and that rank really is meaningless.

These rank discussions aren't really discussions but PvErs and bad PvPers whining about rank and good PvPers arguing against them to no effect. As nothing new or constructive has appeared or will appear, closed.
